Facet Medial Branch Block to Treat Cervical Spinal Arthritis

The spine’s joints are called facet joints. Facet joints are found in the cervical (neck), thoracic (mid back), and lumbar (low back) spine. Facet joint pain can be secondary to neck pain and may radiate into the posterior aspect of head, shoulders and upper back. Using fluoroscopy, we guide the needle into the proper area of cervical spine. Once the needle is positioned near the median nerve, a combination of anesthetics is injected into the medial region for pain relief.
