The joint in the pelvis that connects the sacrum and iliac bones to form pelvis is the sacroiliac joint, or SI joint. Sacroiliac joint pain may be caused by an underlying condition that interrupts or prohibits joint movement. Hip, knee or ankle pain that causes gait changes may cause SI joint pain. Also arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis can lead to it. Sacroiliac pain can be confused with hip pain, low back pain, or buttock pain. We can provide Sacroiliac joint injections by placing a steroid strong anti-inflammatory medication guided by live x-ray guidance/fluoroscopy into the joint to decrease inflammation.
